Wood Mood - an ode to the beauty of trees
Long walks during the recent pandemic and a profound engagement with nature
was the catalyst for this on-going series of ceramic tree trunks.
Each work is both a vessel and a detailed study of texture and structure:
the character of bark or the angle of branches, the patterns of twigs and signs of growth, such as knots and whorls.
At the same time, they also evoke memories and ideas about the enduring beauty and power of trees:
as sources of artistic and literary inspiration,as the lungs of the world and as symbols of life and growth in ancient mythologies.
